Mount Damavand is the highest peak of Alborz mountains in north of Iran. in fact, this beautiful mountain is the highest peak of Iran with altitude of 5671 meters above to sea level.  Mount Damavand stands alone in the east side of Tehran in the middle of the main road from Tehran to the city of Amol in north of Iran. Mount Damavand is visible from Tehran and even further cities like Kashan with a clear weather. In Persian mythology, Mount Damavand is the symbol of mightiness and strength, like a poem it says:

oh you mighty chained white beast

oh you atop the azure sky, oh you mighty Damavand

There are several routes to Mount Damavand summit, but the main routes are: south ridge, north east ridge, north ridge, and west ridge. North east ridge is the longest route to summit and it needs some technical knowledge and better equipment since you need to traverse some parts of Yakhar glacier just below the summit. Also north ridge route is the second longest route to summit and like the north east route it needs technical equipment to ascend especially during the winter time. To ascend the summit of Mount Damavand from the west ridge you need to cross lots of gravel stone paths and in my idea it takes lots of your energy to ascend. South ridge however, is the easiest and most popular route to the summit. You can access the south ridge route from the city of Polour in the middle of Tehran-Amol road (AKA haraz road) via Reyneh city.

The ascend to the summit usually takes place in three days, one day ascend to the south ridge shelter (4250 meter above the sea level), one day for ascending to the summit and coming back to shelter and one day for returning to the starting point in foothills of Mount Damavand.
